Dubai has reaffirmed its commitment to preserving its cultural identity while building a prosperous and sustainable future. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defence, and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai, has highlighted the significance of mosque construction and maintenance as part of the city’s broader humanitarian and social development efforts.

Strategic Agreement to Build and Maintain Mosques

In a strategic move to support the sustainable development of mosques in real estate areas, the Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department (IACAD) has joined forces with the Dubai Land Department. Together, they signed an agreement aimed at improving the construction, maintenance, and operation of mosques within Dubai’s growing real estate developments. This initiative involves collaboration with leading developers, fostering partnerships between the public and private sectors to strengthen the role of mosques as cultural and humanitarian hubs in the community.

Sheikh Hamdan’s Vision for Dubai’s Future

During the event, Sheikh Hamdan emphasized that the project aligns with the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to make Dubai a global leader in humanitarian and cultural efforts. Sheikh Hamdan expressed his deep gratitude to the donors, mosque patrons, and developers for their valuable contributions to these projects.

He acknowledged the essential role of public-private partnerships in supporting projects that positively impact society. He particularly highlighted the Mosque Sponsorship Initiative, which has been widely successful and serves as a model for future collaborations. Sheikh Hamdan praised how the initiative brings together the government, private sector, and individual philanthropists, reflecting the deeply ingrained values of giving in Dubai’s society.

Strengthening Community Partnerships

Ahmed Darwish Al Muhairi, Director General of the Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department, highlighted that the initiative aligns with IACAD’s vision of promoting sustainability and fostering community partnerships in mosque construction and care. He pointed out that collaboration with the private sector is crucial for ensuring the continuity and high standards of religious services in Dubai.

“This agreement reflects our commitment to engaging all sectors in supporting humanitarian and religious projects. It helps establish mosques as integrated community centres that evolve with the progress of society,” said Al Muhairi.

Real Estate Developers’ Role in Community Development

Marwan Ahmed bin Ghalita, Director General of the Dubai Land Department, emphasized that the partnership between the public and private sectors is key to Dubai’s vision of building sustainable and thriving communities.
