Trump Watches Decisive Strikes on Houthi Terrorists in Yemen, Defends U.S. Shipping

March 15, 2025 – Washington, D.C. – The White House released photos of President Donald Trump monitoring airstrikes on Iran-backed Houthi targets in Yemen, as part of a large-scale U.S. military operation to protect American shipping and combat terrorist threats.

President Trump, accompanied by Secretary of State Marco Rubio and National Security Adviser Mike Waltz, made a public statement affirming that U.S. military action is aimed at defending U.S. assets in the region and deterring further terrorist activity. On social media, the White House emphasized that “for too long American economic & national security have been under assault by the Houthis. Not under this presidency.”

Trump’s Military Action Against Houthi Terrorism

Trump, dressed in golf attire and wearing his signature red cap, was seen observing the military operation via video feed in newly released photos. He emphasized that the U.S. was carrying out powerful aerial attacks on Houthi bases, leaders, and missile defense systems to ensure the safety of American shipping routes.

In a statement posted to TRUTHSocial, President Trump declared, “I have ordered the United States Military to launch decisive and powerful Military action against the Houthi terrorists in Yemen.” He further added that U.S. forces are targeting the terrorist group’s infrastructure to restore navigational freedom and prevent future disruptions to global commerce.

The Growing Threat of Houthi Attacks

The Houthis have repeatedly targeted international shipping in the Red Sea, launching missiles and drones against vessels, including U.S. military and commercial ships. These actions, supported by Iran, have disrupted critical trade routes and posed significant threats to U.S. and international security.

The Houthi campaign, which began during the Israel-Hamas conflict in 2023, has seen the targeting of over 100 merchant vessels, leading to the sinking of two ships and the deaths of four sailors. The U.S. Navy has intercepted Iranian-made weapons intended for the Houthis, signaling the growing involvement of Iran in supporting the militant group.

Trump’s Strong Response to Houthi Aggression

The Trump administration has condemned Houthi attacks on U.S. military and civilian vessels, vowing to use “overwhelming lethal force” until the group halts its aggression. Trump remarked on TRUTHSocial, “Joe Biden’s response was pathetically weak, so the unrestrained Houthis just kept going.” He also warned the group, saying, “YOUR TIME IS UP, AND YOUR ATTACKS MUST STOP, STARTING TODAY. IF THEY DON’T, HELL WILL RAIN DOWN UPON YOU LIKE NOTHING YOU HAVE EVER SEEN BEFORE!”

The recent operation is the first major U.S. strike on Houthi forces since President Trump returned to office. The U.S. also re-designated the Houthis as a foreign terrorist organization earlier this month, reversing a decision made by the Biden administration in 2021.

A Broader Geopolitical Context

In the context of ongoing tensions, Secretary of State Rubio has been in contact with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, underscoring the U.S. stance against the Houthis and the potential consequences of their continued attacks on U.S. shipping. Trump’s actions come amidst rising geopolitical tensions, with U.S. officials warning that the Houthis, backed by Iran, could destabilize the region further if left unchecked.

As the U.S. military continues its operations in Yemen, it remains committed to ensuring the security of vital international shipping lanes and preventing terrorist groups from disrupting global trade.
